Filip Šljivac is a Croatian conductor and composer born in Zagreb where he started his music education at the GU Elly Bašić music school. He continued his education at the Zagreb Academy of Music where he studied orchestral conducting in the class of prof. Uroš Lajovic and graduated in the class of prof. Mladen Tarbuk. During his studies, he was awarded two Special Rector's Awards for his participation in the student opera productions "L'Elisir d'amore" and "Carmen".
In 2010 he founded the Zagreb Youth Orchestra with his fellow conductors where he worked as a conductor and artistic leader until 2012. In 2015 he collaborated with the Croatian Chamber Orchestra conducting concerts in Zagreb and Vukovar. In 2017 he had a debut with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra conducting a concert version of G. Bizet "Carmen". The collaboration with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra continued the following year with the "Fil(m)harmonija" project - silent movie classics by Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Harold Lloyd featuring a live orchestra performance. He took part in the Järvi Summer Academy in Estonia, studying with eminent conductors such as Paavo Järvi, Neeme Järvi and Leonid Grin where he gave a concert performance of the Erkki-Sven Tüür composition "Lighthouse" with Järvi Sinfonietta. In 2018 he conducted the Zagreb Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra at the classical music outdoor festival - ZG Classic, with works by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. In 2020 he held a concert and live recording of Beethoven's Piano Concerto no.3 at the St Mark Music Festival in Zagreb with the Festival orchestra and Mia Pečnik as a soloist on piano. The year after, in 2021, he performed with the same orchestra and soloist Eva Šulić, the works "Le tombeau de Couperin" by M. Ravel and the Violin Concerto in D Major by P. I. Tchaikovsky. Both concerts were aired on Croatian national television, HRT in 2021.
Šljivac is also recognized as an arranger and orchestrator for a variety of ensembles (symphonic orchestra, chamber ensembles, choir) encompassing diverse musical styles. He has collaborated with 2CELLOS, Vlatko Stefanovski, Hauser, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists, Choir Zvjezdice, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, String Quartet Sebastian and others.
